1. PURPOSE
This Returns Policy explains the procedure for returning physical products supplied by OPCT, including defective goods, incorrect items, goods damaged in transit and approved change-of-mind returns.
2. CONTACT OPCT BEFORE RETURNING GOODS
Customers should contact OPCT before sending or delivering a product back. This allows OPCT to confirm the correct return location, collection arrangement, troubleshooting steps and any information needed for the assessment.
3. PROOF OF PURCHASE
OPCT may request an invoice, order number, serial number or other reasonable evidence that the product was supplied by OPCT. This helps match the product to its supplier, warranty and original transaction.
4. DEFECTIVE GOODS
Goods returned as defective may be tested to reproduce the fault and determine the cause. Where the reported problem is confirmed and a remedy is due, OPCT will apply the appropriate legal, supplier or manufacturer process.
Testing may reveal that a fault is caused by software, configuration, power, accidental damage, misuse, incompatible third-party equipment or another factor that is not a manufacturing defect. In that situation OPCT will explain the result and any available repair or support options.
5. INCORRECT OR INCOMPLETE SUPPLY
If OPCT supplied the wrong product, omitted an item or supplied materially different goods from the approved order, the customer should report this as soon as reasonably possible. OPCT will verify the order and arrange correction, replacement, collection or another appropriate remedy.
6. GOODS DAMAGED IN TRANSIT
Visible courier or delivery damage should be reported promptly. Customers should keep the packaging and take clear photos of the parcel, label, packaging damage and product condition. These records may be needed for a courier or supplier claim.
7. CHANGE-OF-MIND RETURNS
Where OPCT voluntarily accepts a change-of-mind return and no broader statutory right applies, the goods should normally be unused, complete and suitable for resale. Packaging, manuals, cables, adapters, accessories and promotional items supplied with the product should be returned with it.
8. PRODUCTS THAT MAY HAVE RETURN RESTRICTIONS
Subject to applicable law, return restrictions may apply to:
- Special-order or imported items.
- Custom-built or customised systems.
- Opened or activated software and licensing products.
- Configured or security-sealed equipment where resale is materially affected.
- Consumables that have been opened or used.
- Products damaged after delivery.
- Items with missing serial numbers, accessories or essential components.
9. DATA-BEARING DEVICES
Customers are responsible for backing up and removing personal, confidential or business data from devices before return where practical. OPCT is not responsible for data left on returned devices except to the extent required by law or a separate written data-handling agreement.
10. PACKAGING FOR RETURN
Returned equipment must be packed securely enough to prevent further damage in transit. Anti-static protection should be used for components where appropriate. Where original packaging is unavailable, equivalent protective packaging should be used.
11. COLLECTION AND RETURN COSTS
Responsibility for return transport depends on the reason for return, the applicable law and the agreed arrangement. OPCT will confirm whether collection is arranged by OPCT, the customer, a courier or a supplier.
12. INSPECTION OUTCOME
After assessment, OPCT will advise whether the item qualifies for repair, replacement, exchange, refund, supplier processing, paid repair or return to the customer. Where a diagnostic fee could apply to a non-warranty return, this will be communicated where relevant.
13. UNCOLLECTED RETURNED ITEMS
Where a repaired, rejected or assessed item is ready for collection, OPCT may contact the customer using the available details. Long-term storage, abandoned equipment or disposal will be handled only in accordance with applicable law and after reasonable notice.
CONTACT AND LEGAL PRIORITY

These terms are intended to explain OPCT’s standard business practices. They do not remove any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If a provision conflicts with mandatory South African law, the applicable law will prevail to the extent of the conflict.
