1. PURPOSE
This Warranty & Repairs Policy explains how OPCT handles hardware faults, warranty claims, repair assessments and repair work.
2. STATUTORY RIGHTS
Nothing in a supplier or manufacturer warranty replaces rights that a consumer may have under applicable South African law. Where mandatory law provides a remedy, OPCT will apply that remedy to the extent that it is responsible for doing so.
3. MANUFACTURER AND SUPPLIER WARRANTIES
Many products carry manufacturer or distributor warranty terms in addition to statutory rights. Warranty duration, exclusions, repair locations, advance replacement and proof requirements may differ by brand and product.
4. WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION
Customers should provide the invoice or order number, product serial number where available, a clear description of the fault and any relevant photos, error messages or troubleshooting history.
5. TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT
OPCT may inspect and test equipment to confirm the fault and establish whether the cause is hardware failure, software, configuration, power, accidental damage, network conditions, environmental factors or another issue.
6. COMMON NON-WARRANTY CAUSES
Subject to applicable law, manufacturer warranty and the actual cause, warranty coverage may not apply to damage caused by:
- Impact, drops, cracked screens or other physical damage.
- Liquid ingress or corrosion.
- Electrical surges, lightning, incorrect voltage or unsuitable power.
- Misuse, neglect or operation outside manufacturer specifications.
- Unauthorised repairs, modification or tampering.
- Missing or altered serial numbers or warranty labels.
- Malware, operating-system corruption or unsupported software changes.
- Normal wear and tear or consumable items.
7. REPAIR AUTHORISATION
Where a repair is not covered by warranty, OPCT may provide an estimate or quotation before proceeding. The customer must approve chargeable work unless a prior agreement authorises work within a defined limit.
8. REPAIR TURNAROUND
Repair times depend on diagnosis, part availability, manufacturer or supplier processes, transport and complexity. Any quoted completion date is an estimate unless specifically agreed otherwise.
9. REPLACEMENT PARTS
Replacement parts may be new, manufacturer-authorised, equivalent, refurbished or supplier-approved where appropriate and disclosed or permitted by the relevant warranty process.
10. DATA AND BACKUPS
Customers should maintain current backups before equipment is submitted for repair. Troubleshooting, drive failure, firmware updates, operating-system repair or replacement hardware can result in data loss. Data recovery or backup is a separate service unless expressly included.
11. PASSWORDS AND ACCESS
Where access credentials are required for testing, OPCT will request only what is reasonably necessary. Customers should change temporary or shared passwords after the service is completed where appropriate.
12. REPAIRED GOODS
Repairs performed under warranty or statutory remedy remain subject to applicable legal requirements. Where a same or related defect recurs after a repair, OPCT will assess the product in accordance with the applicable law and warranty process.
13. COLLECTION AFTER REPAIR
OPCT will notify the customer when equipment is ready where contact information is available. Proof of identity, payment or written authority may be required before release.
14. UNCOLLECTED EQUIPMENT
OPCT will not dispose of or treat customer equipment as abandoned merely because it remains uncollected for a short period. Any long-term storage, notice or disposal process will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
15. THIRD-PARTY WARRANTY CENTRES
Some warranty claims must be processed by an authorised service centre or distributor. OPCT may assist with the process, but the final technical decision and turnaround may be controlled by that third party.
CONTACT AND LEGAL PRIORITY
Questions about this policy may be sent to info@opct.co.za. Please include the relevant customer, order, invoice, service or ticket reference where available.
These terms are intended to explain OPCT’s standard business practices. They do not remove any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If a provision conflicts with mandatory South African law, the applicable law will prevail to the extent of the conflict.
OPCT may update this policy when business processes, services, technology or legal requirements change. The version published on this website is the current public version.
