Acceptable use of hosting, connectivity, managed and online services

Effective Date: 26 September 2026
Business: OPCT IT Partners

Email: info@opct.co.za
Address: 639 Rubenstein Drive, Moreleta Park, Pretoria, South Africa

1. PURPOSE

This Acceptable Use Policy protects OPCT systems, customers, networks, suppliers and the wider internet from misuse. It applies to OPCT-hosted, managed, connectivity, cloud, remote-access and online services where relevant.

2. LAWFUL USE

Services may not be used for conduct that is unlawful in South Africa or in another jurisdiction that lawfully applies to the activity.

3. UNAUTHORISED ACCESS

Customers may not use OPCT services to gain or attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts, networks, devices or data. Security testing must be expressly authorised by the system owner and performed within an agreed scope.

4. MALWARE AND HARMFUL CODE

Services may not be used to create, host, distribute or control malware, ransomware, credential stealers, botnets or other harmful code, except for legitimate authorised security research in an appropriately isolated environment.

5. SPAM AND ABUSIVE MESSAGING

Customers may not send unsolicited bulk messages, operate deceptive messaging campaigns, distribute phishing content or use compromised accounts to send spam.

6. FRAUD AND IMPERSONATION

Services may not be used for fraud, identity theft, deceptive impersonation, payment scams, credential harvesting or other dishonest activity.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND THIRD-PARTY RIGHTS

Customers must respect copyright, trade marks, privacy, confidentiality and other lawful third-party rights. OPCT may respond to valid notices or legal requests relating to hosted material.

8. SECURITY OF ACCOUNTS

Customers are responsible for keeping account credentials secure, using appropriate passwords and multi-factor authentication where available, and promptly reporting suspected compromise.

9. NETWORK AND RESOURCE ABUSE

Customers may not intentionally disrupt services, overwhelm infrastructure, bypass reasonable resource controls or conduct activity that materially degrades service for other users.

10. VULNERABILITIES

If a customer discovers a vulnerability in an OPCT-managed service, it should be reported privately to OPCT and not exploited beyond what is reasonably necessary to demonstrate the issue.

11. HOSTED CONTENT

Where OPCT provides hosting or storage, the customer is responsible for the legality of content uploaded by or on behalf of the customer. OPCT does not routinely inspect private customer content without a legitimate operational, security or legal reason.

12. MONITORING AND LOGGING

OPCT may maintain operational and security logs reasonably necessary to operate, secure and troubleshoot services. Monitoring will be conducted in line with applicable law and the Privacy & POPIA Policy.

13. RESPONSE TO ABUSE

Where OPCT reasonably believes a service is being used in a way that creates a serious security, legal or operational risk, OPCT may investigate, contact the customer, restrict the affected function, isolate a compromised system or suspend the relevant service as permitted by law and contract.

14. EMERGENCY ACTION

Immediate action may be taken where delay would reasonably increase the risk of active compromise, data loss, malware spread, service disruption or harm to third parties. OPCT will communicate with the customer as soon as reasonably practical.

15. CUSTOMER COOPERATION

Customers must reasonably cooperate with abuse, security and compliance investigations relating to their service and take corrective action where a compromised device or account under their control is creating risk.

CONTACT AND LEGAL PRIORITY

Questions about this policy may be sent to info@opct.co.za. Please include the relevant customer, order, invoice, service or ticket reference where available.

These terms are intended to explain OPCT’s standard business practices. They do not remove any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If a provision conflicts with mandatory South African law, the applicable law will prevail to the extent of the conflict.

OPCT may update this policy when business processes, services, technology or legal requirements change. The version published on this website is the current public version.
